* OMG. You guys. Tomorrow is July 1. June, where did you go? Eep.

* So I brought Alice's Tea Cup (the book, no the actual place) home from the library yesterday and I'm pretty sure I can live off of nothing but scones and cake for the rest of my life. The first recipe I'm going to try is Lavender Earl Grey scones. Mmmm, scones.

* Speaking of baking, when it started to get a little stale, I managed to save the very delicious Spiced Lemon cake I made earlier in the week by soaking it in egg/coconut milk custard and then baking it into bread pudding. OMG, so good.

* Also? Fresh figs. OMG, yum. <3 summer. There's a reason I've never managed to make a recipe that calls for figs. I eat them all before I have the chance.

* I've been rearranging and I shifted the dining room around so now it's an entirely different wall that needs art. But I like it better this way. Anyway, I'm scouring etsy trying to figure out exactly what I want.

* Took a few days off from writing to regroup and reorganize my thoughts. In the last week, I finished off three fics for different fests, and I felt like I needed some time to clear them out of my head space. I'm feeling pretty good about all of it now. Hopefully in the next few days I'll finish the ending of my [livejournal.com profile] crowley_bigbang and be able to start on my [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon story. I also want to fill a few prompts at the Summer in Harlan commentfic meme and there's more than one catching my eye at the Let's Get Gay Married commentfic meme too.

* SO, what are you guys up to?

Today was just gorgeous. Fresh air and sunshine and happy things all around. I have things to share!

* Dinner. OMG, yum. Spent most of the day walking around the biggest park in the city, and may have stopped off to get a ridiculously sugary coffee drink that kind of made me feel gross afterward. So, I came home and made a brown rice and veggie stir fry for dinner with a really really yummy beet slaw. Recipe behind the cut.

BEEEEEEEEEEETS )

* I'm not generally very big on fashion blogs, but I found Tomboy Style the other day and OH, I'm in love.

* For funny. Amy Sedaris (<3) on how to cook hotdogs over the fire on a rake )

* GOOD NEWS! Boy Meets World Season 5 is finally available on dvd. I have been waiting ages and ages for this. And Season 6 is due out in July. Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeny!

* My current song obsession is I Will Never Love You More by Soko, and this little film that goes with it makes me all sorts of happy:

* How are you all, flist? What are you doing this weekend?
rillalicious: (Colby shades)
* Reading Bossypants by Tina Fey. Oh my god, I'm just dying. I am so totally in love with her. And laughing so hard that I'm crying.

* Making baked pasta for dinner. Yum. And I have beer. Saranac black forest. Yum yum.

* Our copy of Deathly Hallows pt 1 arrived today. Finally. So many things I love so hard about this movie.

* The Office last night made me teary-eyed. Love the episodes written by Mindy Kaling to begin with, and this one delivered. Also, Parks and Rec. April and her dead birds. <3

* For Love is Strong as Death was completed yesterday. So if you blew off my multiple recs because it was a WIP, go, now, and read. The characterization is just outstanding. Supernatural. Sam/Gabriel, Dean/Castiel. 50k. You'll never want it to end. Seriously. (I love this story to a ridiculous degree.)

* I stayed up late last night writing and I'm not feeling it today, which is lovely. I hate paying the price for taking advantage of those creative bursts.

* Today I scrubbed the bathroom and kitchen. It's amazing how productive I feel when I manage to get those two things done.

* Weekend, weekend, weekend. Huzzah! We're going to watch The Life of Brian and zombie movies this weekend. And hopefully I'll finish my [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_novella.

* Still on book 4 of the Stackhouse books. Enjoying it very much, I've been writing more than I'm reading just now, so it's been a bit slow going.

* Oh, I got new clothes! Grown up clothes! I can has adult linen things! To quote the boyfriend, "Oh, you are fancy." Seriously, guys, I owned like two pairs of jeans and one of them had a tear perilously close to the ass. And a whole bunch of t-shirts, most of which are inappropriate and have been packed away now that the children can read. ("Spooning leads to forking" is my favorite.)

* Any big plans this weekend, flist?

rillalicious: (Twiggy Luna)
* So I've signed up for a couple more things. Because they sounded like fun and I've been having a fair amount of luck with prompt-based writing recently. [livejournal.com profile] nextgendarkfest (which my brain always parses as next gender fest at first), [livejournal.com profile] teddy_fest (have I mentioned my next gen obsession lately??), and a White Collar fic exchange. Which should be fun. I've only written one WC fic so far.

* I also have my [livejournal.com profile] crowley_bigbang which is almost finished, and my [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_novella which is good as finished in my head, if not on paper. And [livejournal.com profile] ellensmithee and I are writing a [livejournal.com profile] luciusbigbang together. THAT one has me very excited.

* I'm also working on a TVD/Justified crossover (I know, right, what?) that I'm convinced is the most boring thing I've ever written. It's gen, I think. I know! I'm sayin! But I can't stop writing it.

* [livejournal.com profile] chillit, your SS/HG prompt is resonating with me, I just need to tweak it a bit in my head. I'm thinking it's going in a PWP direction! <3

* It's been cool and rainy and perfect weather for writing. With an afternoon pot of coffee. It's too bad that afternoon pot of coffee isn't so good for me.

* I've been making up for that by eating obscene amounts of kale. Seriously, if I stop posting at some point, it's because I turned into a piece of kale. OMG, green things. I love you.

* If you wonder why I love my second born, yesterday we went to the park. He wore his three wolf moon t-shirt and his sister's pin-striped fedora. <3

* Anyway, to sum up: still writing lots and lots and lots, still on the coffee, still attempting to eat healthy, my kid > awesome.

How about you, flist? Anything new in your necks of the woods?

I am still here! Really, I am.

* My [livejournal.com profile] wizard_love fic has been keeping me busy because omg, the deadline is coming up. I had thought that as long as I had the idea so neatly laid out in my head, it wouldn't take me long at all to write it. Ahahahaha. Because I have so much free writing time, right? *sigh* It's shaping up, I just have to carve more time out of the day.

* Part of the problem is that the holidays around here are immediately followed by FOUR family birthdays within two weeks, and that totally knocked me off my groove. I need to find it again.

* I've decided that I really need to make the time to read more this year. It's not like I have a lack of unread books around here. So I'm starting a "reading" tag here with the intention of using it often.

* Speaking of, I finally started Anthony Bourdain's Medium Raw. Words cannot express how much I adore that man. His voice is so clear (as it always is in my head) and I love hearing him uncensored (or at least less censored than on tv). My only problem with it is that I'm naturally a very fast reader, and when I can hear the author's voice like that, it slows me down almost to the point of frustration. Also, this book is making it very difficult for me to transition back to vegetarianism.

* So I'm seriously considering becoming a vegetarian again. My diet has been awful for the past couple of years and I need to fix that. I'm generally much healthier when I'm not eating meat. On the other hand, I live with five other people who all eat meat and have no intentions to change that, so it's going to take a lot of planning ahead. And if we know one thing about me, it's that I am not a planner.

* Okay, I have said absolutely nothing of substance except to note that I am still alive. So this is where I stop babbling.

rillalicious: (Rilla writing)
* So my nanowrimo story is kind of a mess. I have less than 700 words total so far. I'm wondering if I should pick up where I left off with last year's nano (which I've been meaning to work on for oh, 11 months now). The idea of switching over to fanfic is appealing, but I don't really have a 50k fanfic idea inside me.

* I had Thai food for dinner, at the kind of restaurant that does not have high chairs, so that makes me happy. It was good and delicious and wonderful. Ginger mushroom tofu. OMG, yum. And the boyfriend was kind enough to humor me and go out for it since he is mildly allergic to peanuts and does not like coconut, which severely limited his options.

* I have Blue Moon Winter Abbey Ale. Two things are missing: A Guinness chaser and [livejournal.com profile] thistle_verse.

* All I want to write is fanfic, which is leading me to wonder if I should just shelve nano all together and work on these various little pieces I've got bouncing around in my head. I'd like to write more Numb3rs for sure. Indecision is my worst and most prevalent attribute.

* I need yarn. It's getting cold and I want to knit.

* My want for more ink is growing into a need. If I didn't have all these weird issues about strangers touching me, I would have done it already. Of course, I have to make up my mind which tattoo to get.

* Also? Another 3-4 hours in the day would be awesome.

* ♥, flist
