At one Colby clicks the remote, one leg off the couch, glancing routinely at his silent smartphone.
At two he's on his back, laptop on his stomach, tweeting.
At four he's finished the coffee, sprawled out prone, watching Bonanza. Again.
At quarter after, his phone chirps. Two more rings, then he picks up. "Granger."
"Hey, Colby. You sleeping?"
"Yeah," he says, forcing a yawn.
"Sorry. Time difference still gets me. Can't talk. On my way to the office. Just wanted to hear your voice."
"My voice."
"Nice."
"I aim to please."
"Gotta run. Take care, man."
"Night, David."
Now, he can sleep.
